This is so heart warming and touching。 Best reads this year for sure。

This was the most beautiful manga I have ever read。 I found this book on a standalone manga list on Google。 The title and the cover art make me skeptical on what this book might be about。 But it didn’t disappoint。 The cool thing is this was written by a Japanese woman so it was perfect for August women in translation。 If your looking for a Manga that pack a full blown novel into 100 plus pages than this one for you。 This is by far my favorite read of 2021

Super quick read that was surprisingly devastating。 If you like manga and you are cool with a dark twist, I would recommend。

This was a sweet little story that delivered on the angst but it was rly good! It reminded me a lot of a certain Kore-Eda film (actually, 2 of his films, kinda) but to say more would be to spoil。 If you know, you know lol

Quiero analizar un poco más mis sentimientos para la reseña。Voy a adelantar una cosa, para mí este tomo fue suficiente, no sentí que la historia necesitara alargarse más。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 When I started reading it, I never thought the story will end up like this。 I thought it will be typical summer romance between two school friends。 Natsuru live with his mom and is in school soccer team and hardly talks with any girl。 When he met Rio (his class mate) one evening he must have never thought that their life will change so much。 Rio lives with her little brother and was hiding a secret to defend them。 Both of their parents had abandoned them。 She use to live with her dad and grandpa When I started reading it, I never thought the story will end up like this。 I thought it will be typical summer romance between two school friends。 Natsuru live with his mom and is in school soccer team and hardly talks with any girl。 When he met Rio (his class mate) one evening he must have never thought that their life will change so much。 Rio lives with her little brother and was hiding a secret to defend them。 Both of their parents had abandoned them。 She use to live with her dad and grandpa。 Their dad lied to them saying he would go Alaska for fishing, while Rio should take care of the family and household。 When their grandpa accidentally died and Rio called and waited for her dad but didn't get any response from him。 She buried him in the backyard and was living alone with her brother since then。 Wherelse their dad was already in the same neighborhood living with a hostess。 He never left for Alaska, he simply abandoned them cause he is tired of living at home。 These incidents not only hurt and disturbed Rio but Natsuru too cause all the time he spent with the siblings, he wanted to protect them。 And that class princess totally deserve that slap。 There is a saying - never judge a book by its cover。 Just because Rio was looking messy with her haircut and dressing and trying her best to meet the ends and keeping the secret from everyone else。。。。nobody gives that class princess any right to criticize Rio and say awful things without even thinking it over。 The fact that people like Rio's dad and that class princess exist and they hurt people awfully。 God I wanted to punch her dad so much。。 how can he leave children alone to take care of themselves while he himself enjoying his life。。。 Such a jerk!! But Rio is brave enough to not let herself crumble and stand head strong most of the time。 She is also a kid after all。 And Natsuru being part of her family one summer made her even stronger and they both realize some bond which they never thought would exist。 Overall the story is nice and realistic。 It made me cry when the story ends。 I hope they meet in another fictional dimensional world real soon and be there for each other again。 。。。more

This was an interesting manga。 It's a coming of age story about how we cope with the ugly truths in the world。 The first part is just a cute first romance story, but there's a darker element that becomes more apparent as it progresses。 That juxtaposition of sweet sentimentality and sad reality is where the bulk of the themes lie。13+ The only reason I can't put this in my class is because there's a scene early on where the protagonist comes up behind his mother in the kitchen and starts kneading This was an interesting manga。 It's a coming of age story about how we cope with the ugly truths in the world。 The first part is just a cute first romance story, but there's a darker element that becomes more apparent as it progresses。 That juxtaposition of sweet sentimentality and sad reality is where the bulk of the themes lie。13+ The only reason I can't put this in my class is because there's a scene early on where the protagonist comes up behind his mother in the kitchen and starts kneading her breasts to relax。 I'm guessing there's some context I lack that makes that less shocking to a Japanese audience, but I could be wrong。 Regardless, I don't want to have to explain it to a parent。 Aside from that there's nothing objectionable。 。。。more

Very good, with beautiful artwork。 Story is very basic however, and incredibly predictable。

La historia es linda pero el libro merece todas las estrellas por el arte que es tan maravilloso, el dibujo esta muy bien cuidado, la autora realmente se preocupa por los detalles。 ^^

As I've been checking out the manga scene, I've kind of just grabbed whatever looks interesting and gone from there。。。man, no wonder Japan is kicking the crap out of what passes for American comics these days。This was a really heart-rending story that I definitely should not have read right around the time I put my daughter to bed。 It made me hug her a little tighter。Some of the cultural stuff was confusing and had me scratching my head, but I'm still new to this genre so I'm feeling it out。 Gre As I've been checking out the manga scene, I've kind of just grabbed whatever looks interesting and gone from there。。。man, no wonder Japan is kicking the crap out of what passes for American comics these days。This was a really heart-rending story that I definitely should not have read right around the time I put my daughter to bed。 It made me hug her a little tighter。Some of the cultural stuff was confusing and had me scratching my head, but I'm still new to this genre so I'm feeling it out。 Great story and characters though。 。。。more

I can’t tell if I want to rate this 4 or 5 stars。 I’ve settled on 4。5, I loved this manga and the story that unfolded。 The combination of slice of life with more serious topics。 As someone with trauma, it comforted me in a way? The only issue I have with this book is that it feels rushed, for example I feel I didn’t get enough time in the book to process the ending which made it less impactful for me。 Ozaki probably had an impossible deadline to reach like most manga authors…

Aaaaaahhh no sé, dime que opinas después sjsjjsjs) 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I’ve recommended this book to a lot of people。 Although it can be perceived as a very simple story, besides from the surprising twist midway, I found that the ending was bittersweet depending how you interpret the final ‘promise’。 Before the final pages display an older Natsuru and Rio talk about meeting again, we are told the story of Natsuru’s fathers promise he made him while ill, that if he was good then the Gods would make him better。 This would inspire the question of why do “the Gods lie” I’ve recommended this book to a lot of people。 Although it can be perceived as a very simple story, besides from the surprising twist midway, I found that the ending was bittersweet depending how you interpret the final ‘promise’。 Before the final pages display an older Natsuru and Rio talk about meeting again, we are told the story of Natsuru’s fathers promise he made him while ill, that if he was good then the Gods would make him better。 This would inspire the question of why do “the Gods lie”, which is explained beautifully in simplicity。They do so because they love us and want to spare us the pain。And as Rios promise to Natsuru follows straight after, it feels as though another ending was actually intended。After all, what stops the author from showing them standing together in the future, instead of the panel showing the old photo of them as children。I feel, therefore, that this story is about love and the lies we make to spare those we feel such emotions towards。 。。。more

All I can say, this manga is one of the best manga I have ever read!!! As with nearly all manga books I've ever picked up this one can be read in just over an hour (maybe less if I don't feel so emotional)。 It's a nice way to end a day but be prepared to be more saddened than uplifted。 I cried a bucket during the end。 :'(I thought it was a youth love-themed manga but then the plot twist in the middle of the manga is shocking。 From love to thriller and to friendship, Ozaki's manga for the first t All I can say, this manga is one of the best manga I have ever read!!! It will hurt them for a long time because most of them are still developing their confidence and they are full of insecurities。 Natsuru's friends are really supportive even though they have an obsession with boobs and butt (lol to be young)。 Plus, the Himegawa kid is so evil for saying "you've abandoned" Rio even though her action is to hurt Rio to express her jealousy。 I know she is young but she's being a brat and lacking of manners because she was spoiled by her parents。 The slap Natsuru gave Himegawa was so satisfying and my most fav scene ever。Rio's (the fl) poverty was saddening because at her age, she was supposed to be happy and enjoy her youth but instead, she has to take care of her brother because there are only two of them。 That experience makes her more mature than the other kids her age because of how harsh her life is。 Also, the plot twist really makes her seem more stronger and braver despite the dumb decision that she makes。 Even though her decision is wrong, but she does it to save her family。 Her thinking that leads to making that quick decision also is quite smart despite how horror is for a girl that age to even have those thoughts。 Now I understand why the title name was 'The Gods Lie。"。 For Natsuru and Rio, the god lie to them and take away their hapiness & change it to sadness。 I really want the second book to be made because the ending is not satisfying at all!! 。。。more
